Keepers of the wisdom

Whales have been on Earth for 50 million years. They have seen a lot, compared to humans who have been here 5 million years. Whales are ‘Keepers of the Wisdom’ of our planet.

Humpback whales feed in Alaska in the summer and journey to Hawaiian waters from November through April to give birth, nurse their babies, and mate. They give birth the following year. The males are here for mating and singing.

I love being out in my kayak, listening to and recording their songs with a hydrophone. Every year the song changes a little adding new phrases and altering others.

As a massage therapist and musician, I often use “sound healing” in my work. I love combining the sounds of nature with music for its soothing and calming effect. This album is a collaboration with the whales and several Maui musicians.

May this music inspire in its listeners a love and appreciation for these magnificent ‘Wisdom Keepers’. May we protect and preserve the ocean and all it’s inhabitants and may the whale song continue forever!
